    Description

    Two Antique Cast Iron Castings over 100 years old, from the early years of Louisville . I was in the Ornamental Iron Business for over 40 years and have had these for most of that time...I received them from a customer that said, he had owed them for most of his life...He was a hot walker at Churchill Downs and had gotten them from the track, home of the Kentucky Derby...Would be cool to think these were there when Aristides won the first derby, May 17, 1875...They are two of the most beautiful casting i have ever seen, explains why we carried them from place to place for all of those years....Each casting is 29 1/2" x 10 1/2" x 3/4" and weigh 20 Lbs each... Would be cool to build a rail, gate, balcony etc, and be used for the next 100 years..I have collected high end Derby items for many years and starting to let some of them go...last photo is a bronze statue of Aristides and is one of 300 made, a desk top copy of a larger then life one at the track...will be selling one of these from my collection of three...
