    Description

This is the headboard or piece that sat right above the keys on a very old piano that was kept in our family for several generations. It was too big to be moved out of the basement in the farmhouse we had to tear down so I saved a few pieces from it to keep. I don’t know the exact age, but I know the piano was in our family for more than 100 years and made by Busch and Sons. It has a dark veneer on the front and what looks like a maple veneer on the back and solid wood made from Oak in the middle, as is my best guess. There are some signs of wear, including cracks, peeling, or chips in the outside veneer as well as possible discoloration from age, weather, or handling. Please refer to photos. It is still a very thick, solid piece though, and has a lot to offer as reclaimed salvage lumber that can be made into something new. It weighs almost 17 1/2 pounds and measures approx 50” long x 16-1/4” x 1-3/8”.
